Lakewood is a family that loves, learns and serves together.

The life of the church is one that takes place in the extraordinary and the mundane, the spectacular and the routine – on the “mountaintops” and in the everyday.

As a local congregation, our desire is to learn to live as God’s family together, to “bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the Law of Christ.”

Part of our life together takes place on Sunday Mornings, but a great deal takes place during the week.

We believe that every day and hour of the life of the church falls into the “sacred” category, and that’s why we are a church built of Community Groups.

Community Groups are small groups – typically 8 to 16 people –  who spend time together during the week. At Lakewood, some Community Groups are Bible studies, others focus on prayer and intercession, and still others focus on shared meals and stories; some are specific ages, others have grandparents and newborns and everyone in between – there’s no formula, other than brothers and sisters involved in each other’s lives.

Here are the current Community Groups and when they meet:

  • Pitner/Patterson Group – Sunday night
  • Vaughan Group – Sunday night
  • Butcher Group – Sunday night
  • Taylor Group – Tuesday night
  • Thomas Group – Tuesday night
  • House Group – Wednesday night
  • Vandawalker Group – Wednesday night
  • Glenn Group (ladies) – Thursday night
If you’d like to learn more about why we participate in community groups, or if you’d like to check out a group or even start a new one, please contact the church office at (918) 423-2736.
